The final stage of liver damage is called cirrhosis, and it involves most of your liver turning into scar tissue. Like many foods and nutrients, too much coffee can cause problems, especially in the digestive tract. But studies have shown that drinking up to four 8-ounce cups of coffee a day is safe. Sticking to these limits shouldn’t be difficult for coffee drinkers in the United States, as most only drink one cup of java a day. Moderation is the key. But sipping a reasonable amount of coffee might just be one of the healthiest things you can do.
